Attorney Sharon Comet-Epstein is a Past President of the Center for Principled Family Advocacy overseeing professional development and the practice groups in Mediation, Collaborative Practice, and Cooperative Practice.
As an experienced mediator and collaborative attorney, Sharon helps people facing divorce, post-divorce, or other family law matters who want to avoid the expense, hostilities and risks of litigation to reach agreements that are best for them and their children.
Sharon’s extensive advanced training and experience in litigation alternatives, communications and negotiation processes help her clients navigate the financial, personal and emotional aspects of family law matters to achieve their most important goals. Her clients value her responsive, creative, and caring client-centered services.
Sharon also is a specially trained Parenting Coordinator and uses her conflict resolution, parenting, and parenting coordination skills to help divorced parents resolve disputes and decrease the likelihood of returning to court.
As a second career attorney, Sharon has a rich and varied background including MS and PhD degrees from Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in programs emphasizing communications, organizational behavior and negotiations.
As a parent herself, in all her cases, even those that require litigation, Sharon’s goal is to help people find the best solutions and move on with their lives in emotionally and financially the best ways possible–especially if children are involved.
Sharon graduated law school from CWRU in 1992, where she was an adjunct professor for over 13 years, teaching attorney-client communications, interviewing, counseling, negotiating, and oral persuasion skills. She is a popular trainer and speaker at professional and community sponsored programs.
Currently chairing the Speaker’s Bureau for the Center, Sharon is also Vice-President of the Mediation Association of Northeast Ohio (MANO), and a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (Family Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution Sections), Ohio State Bar Association, and International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
