In 2002, Mr. Kelly was admitted to the Ohio Bar and the Federal District Court, Northeastern District of Ohio.
From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Kelly served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the office of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor William D. Mason. He served in the Juvenile Justice Unit and General Felony Unit. In the GFU, Mr. Kelly prosecuted over 20 jury trials for crimes such as burglary, theft, drug offenses and felonious assault. He worked with former State Representative Mark Schneider and Major Trial Prosecutor Blaise Thomas in securing convictions against two murderers. Mr. Kelly aided in the prosecution of ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) cases alongside current Judge Brendan Sheehan.
In 2006, Tom joined his father in the practice of law. He left the Prosecutor’s Office to form Kelly and Kelly LLC. Mr. Kelly is dedicated to helping you in the fields of family law and criminal defense. Like his father, he is committed to the public good and engages in free (or pro bono) work when he is able and the case is appropriate.
Currently, Tom also serves the citizens of the city of Parma Heights as its part-time municipal prosecutor in the administration of Mayor Michael Byrne.
